“Start with a roux.”  But of course YOU don’t have to make it.  We have it made for you.  All you do is add the shrimp, onions, celery, green peppers and other goodies and give it a quick cooking on the stovetop.  Serve over the rice that's included, and you’ve made an instant Louisiana favorite in your own kitchen.  Stovetop – 20 minutes.

Preparation:  Thaw completely.  If frozen or partially frozen, defrost slightly in microwave before cooking.  Do not over-microwave, or shrimp will become tough.

Cooking Instructions:  Place bag of vegetables and 1 cup water in saucepan and bring to a boil.  Lower heat and simmer 10 minutes.  Add bag of shrimp and cook 5-8 minutes or until shrimp turns pink and opaque.  Do not over-cook, or shrimp will become tough.  Place rice in microwaveable container; add 1 tablespoon water.  Cover and heat in microwave 1 minute or until hot.  Serve gumbo over rice.

Suggested Sides:  Green salad, hot French bread
